JUNE BROTT
Lincoln, Neb.
June Roseland (Davidson) Brott, 90, died March 22, 2016, in Lincoln, Neb., surrounded by her family.
She was born Dec. 17, 1925, in North Platte, Neb., to Roll and Nellie (Scott) Davidson.
June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe; her parents; sister, Fern (Robert) Kanive; and brother, Paul (Fern) Davidson.
June loved to travel. As a child she was blessed to travel by train to amazing destinations as her father was an engineer with the UP out of North Platte. She loved to tell stories of their adventures from coast to coast, including the 1933 Chicago World's Fair.
On June 30, 1946, in North Platte, Neb., June married the love of her life, Joseph W. Brott, following his return from three years in Germany during World War II. After attending and graduating from North Platte High School in 1943, their engagement/courtship was via letters throughout Joe's Army duty. June counted the days Joe was gone, faithfully writing letters and sending packages. June volunteered at the North Platte Canteen, serving World War II servicemen traveling across the country by train during the war and was active in prayer groups for the soldiers.
After attending business college, June enjoyed a long career, retiring from Amoco Oil (Standard Oil of Indiana) and also from a second career with the Kellogg Co. in Omaha.
She was a member of Gentle Shepherd Baptist Church, Lincoln, Neb.; Nebraska Woodcarvers Club, Omaha; and Nebraska Scottish Society. June was a lifelong believer, attending Baptist churches and enjoying church activities, always willing to help with anything asked of her.
During retirement they lived at Beaver Lake, Neb., and enjoyed lake life a great deal. They enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and Europe, where again, June enjoyed the trains. She learned to be a woodcarver with Joe, was very proud of her Scottish heritage and toured Scotland several times. She was fascinated with and worked diligently on genealogy. She was a good storyteller of all the amazing experiences of her life and that of her family.
Throughout 68 years of marriage, June and Joe were always together and became known for the holding of hands, smiles and kisses between them. Their legacy of love, patience, tenderness and kindness is a blessed gift to their family and friends.
June is survived by her three daughters, Judy (Jerald) Buss, Lincoln, Neb., Jody Brott, Lincoln, and Julie (Mark) Walters, Ely, Iowa; grandchildren, April (Justin) Douglas, Lincoln, Crystal (Patrick) Ridder, Lincoln, Tom Walters (Brooklyn Wroe), Waterloo, Iowa, and Sarah Walters, Naples, Fla.; great- grandchildren, Alexandra and Jacquelyn Douglas, Joey, Jaelee and Jack Ridder, Haylee, Rylee, Gavin and Nolan Walters and Aliviah Wroe; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. April 2, at Rudge Chapel, Wyuka Cemetery, 3600 O St., Lincoln. Burial: Wyuka Cemetery. Visitation with family: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Wyuka Funeral Home, Lincoln. www.wyuka.com
