June Ann (Brown) Swallom, 91, of Guttenberg, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away at home surrounded by her family on May 19, 2023, following a short illness. Private services will be held. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
June was born on July 6, 1931, to Roy Edward and Charlotte Hanna (Wilkins) Brown in Luana, Iowa. She married Charles A. “Chuck” Swallom July 15, 1949. Her two sons Charles Michael “Mike” of Guttenberg and Roy Edward (Nancy) of Williston, N.D., were important to her and made her so very proud (Her words). She enjoyed her adult roller-skating group and bowling teams.
She is survived by her husband of almost 74 years; two sons and daughter-in-law; two grandchildren, Daniel (Tiffany) Swallom and Virginia A. Swallom; three great-grandsons, Myles, Blaine and Thomas Swallom; sister, Rose Perkins; sister-in-law, Vivian (Sis) Wenger; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Dankert; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Dankert, Jack Perkins, Jim Wenger and Leonard (Barbara) Swallom; step-father, Louis Wagner; and step-sisters, Doris Murphy, Donnafred Hinman, Darlene Russet and Dorothy Heins.
June’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of St. Croix Hospice for their caring support during her final days.
