Julie Sellers
JULIE ELLEN SELLERS
Colorado Springs, Colo.
March 31, 1952 – Oct. 1, 2018
It is with tremendous sadness that her family announces the passing of Julie Ellen Sellers, a loving and much-loved wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. Julie was born Julie Ellen Welsh in Iowa City, Iowa, to Mary Ellen Birmingham and Thomas Edward Welsh. Julie grew up in Williamsburg, Iowa, and trained to be a dental assistant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During this time, she met the love of her life, Alfred Sellers, a young U.S. Air Force officer, whom she married in Suisun, Calif., on July 1, 1979.
Julie had a warm and wonderful heart. She cared very much for her family and her community, and actively engaged to selflessly support others her entire life. She served as a parent helper in classrooms, den mother in Cub Scouts, and for 12 years was an active and diligent volunteer in the Penrose/St. Francis Health Care system, where she also worked for eight years as a data analyst at the Penrose Urgent Care Center. She will be fondly remembered for her kind sense of humor and her fierce intellect. She instilled in her sons a faith in God, compassion for others and a strong civic duty, as well as her love of reading and the importance of education. Julie loved all animals, most especially the cats that she cared for throughout her life.
Julie is survived by her husband, Al; her brother, Mick (wife, Carol); her sons, Andrew (wife, Andrea) and Jason (wife, Heather); and grandchildren, Benjamin (age 4) and Emerson (age 16 months). A memorial service will be held at Swan Law Funeral Home (on Cascade) on Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in her name to the Humane Society by using https://www.hsppr.org/springs/
