Julie Ann Blakley, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by the warmth of her family at home in Iowa City, IA. Born on November 28, 1957, to the late Charles Alvin Smith and the late Lorna Kathryn Smith, Julie's life was a testament to the power of a generous spirit, the joy of loving babies and children, the fortitude of resiliency in the face of adversity, and the enduring strength of family.
A memorial service to celebrate Julie will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, August 1 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Following the service the family invites guests for lunch at the Kirkwood Room (next to the funeral home).
Julie is survived by her children, Micah (Aaron) Jennings, Tara Blakley, Justin “Jay” (Katie) Blakley; grandchildren, Lexi, Carter, Cal, Ruby, and June; siblings, Linda (Earl) Hull, Marlene (Steve) Fuhrmeister, Chuck (Cheryl) Smith, Connie (Steve) Gardner, Kaye (JB) Petsel, Rod Smith, and Gary (Ginelle) Smith. Julie is also survived by her boyfriend Jim Hanson and numerous extended family and friends.
