Julie A. Johnson, 69 of Newton, Iowa (formerly Cedar Rapids, Iowa) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, at Mercy One Newton Medical Center, after a short battle with cancer.
Julie was born July 3rd, 1954, in Yankton, SD, daughter of the late John and Phyllis (Lowther) Johnson. She graduated from Kennedy High School in 1972. Julie was a chemist at Cargill for 25 years prior to her brain aneurysm in 2013. She spent every day with her best friend, and faithful companion Maxamillion, the best dog ever. She loved spending time with her family and grandkids whenever she could. She was a loving person with a huge heart. She always had a diet Pepsi nearby! She knew how to joke around and make people laugh. She collected elephants and willow tree angels.
Julie is survived by and will be missed by her children Jennifer Dougherty of Newton, John Lnenicka of Cedar Rapids, Elizabeth Lnenicka (Brett) of Newton, and step daughter Melody (John) of Cedar Rapids; Grandchildren Christianna, Jasmyn, Beckham, Lexy, Laynie, Dalton, Sarai', Brayden, Gavyn, Reeyse, Avah, Natalyee, Lexie and Aubrie; Great grandchildren Ivy, Haizleigh, Braxton, Parker, Kiera and Jayce; Sister Lisa (Bob) Grulkey of Cedar Rapids; Her dog Maxamillion; Special friend Dwight Riggs, who was like a son to her; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Phyllis Johnson, sisters Barbara Jackson and Angela Doe.
A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on June 13th, 2024, from 2:00-5:00 p.m., with a graveside service immediately following.
