Julianna M. Gerken, 77, of Independence, entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the ABCM Rehabilitation Center's West Campus in Independence, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her children, Mitch (Shelia) Gerken, Independence, Morris Gerken, Independence, Lisa Tjaden, Omaha, Neb., Lonie Mezera, Des Moines, and Linda (Mike) Short, Marion; 10 grand-children; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Veryl Voss, Gutten-berg, Dorothy Maiers, Dyersville, and Rita (Jack) Garside, Dubuque; and a brother, Lester (Virgie) Dingbaum, Manchester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with the Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where a rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a parish vigil service held at 7 p.m. on Friday.
