Julia Jean "Julie" Zieser, 63, of Washington, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Celebration of Life services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at Prairie Flower Baptist Church, rural Washington, with Pastor David Cotner officiating. Calling hours will begin Friday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
Memorials have been established for an education fund for Ainsley and Dawson or Hospice of Washington County.

Julia Jean "Julie" Radda was born May 19, 1953, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Don and Betty (Fisk) Radda. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1971 and received her administrative secretary degree and associate of arts degree from Kirkwood Community College. She was secretary to the dean at Kirkwood for seven years. Julie was united in marriage to Wayne Zieser at Church of the Living Word in Washington in June 1977.
Wayne and Julie moved to the family farm north of Washington in 1979. She worked with her husband on the farm with livestock, grain farming and as a bookkeeper. Julie worked part-time for J9 Paint and ResCare. She enjoyed gardening, her flower gardens, and spending time with her husband and their many motorcycle rides.
Her most important and cherished job was being a mother and grandmother and instilling in her family the importance of hard work, leadership and the love of God.
Julie was a "caregiver" for many. She was known as having a gracious heart and always helping others. Her faith and love for Christ showed in her love for others. She was proud to represent Farm Her – Women in Agriculture.
Julie was an active member for 37 years of Prairie Flower Baptist Church, where she taught children's church, assisted with Friendship Bible Study and Bible School, was a member of the choir and enjoyed playing her flute.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Zieser of Washington; son, David Zieser and wife Jill of Riverside; son, Brian Zieser of Washington; two grandchildren, Ainsley and Dawson Zieser; sister, Carol Carlson of Coralville; sister, Barb Kiene and husband Kevin of Riverside; and one brother, Vernon Radda of Washington.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
