JULI MAY REED/TROENDLE
Everett, Wash.
Juli May Reed/Troendle died peacefully at the Dedicated Adult Family home in Lynwood, Wash., on Monday, April 25, 2022, at the age of 63 after a long 10-plus-year fight against a rare untreatable, incurable, neurological, terminal illness, MSA, Multiple Systems Atrophy.
Juli is survived by her husband of 42 years, Chris Reed; their three children, Brittany Menday of Eatonville, Wash., and Tyler Reed and Danielle Reed of Everett, Wash.; her sister, Kim Kulish of Toddville, Iowa, and Terri Crissinger of Mesa, Ariz.; her brother, Steve Troendle of Swisher, Iowa; and her younger sister, Traci Webster of Omaha, Neb. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Michael Troendle and Joan Marie Schulte/Troendle of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her brother-in-law, John Kulish of Toddville, Iowa; and her niece, Kerri Kulish of Toddville, Iowa.
Juli May Troendle was born on Oct. 31, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Mike and Joan Troendle. She graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1977. Juli worked many jobs when she was younger, including being the first female paper delivery girl in Cedar Rapids history and, in high school, a baker at Doughnut Land. She went on to get a two-year degree in Interior Design at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Chris Reed on May 17, 1980, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the day before Mount St. Helens blew in Washington state - we had no idea at that time that event was happening. Before moving to Washington state, Juli gave birth to her first child, Brittany. Within two years Chris received an offer from Boeing and we moved to South Hill Puyallup, Wash., in 1989, with Juli pregnant with our second child, Tyler. Juli worked hard at maintaining the home and kids while Chris worked. Juli would work off and on during this time to make extra money, she was a very hard worker and very dedicated to her family and friends. In 1994 Chris had an opportunity with a company in Mukilteo, Wash., north of Seattle, so a move was planned and Juli was now pregnant with our third child, Danielle. Juli was very dedicated to her children, making sure they had everything they needed to be successful, including lots of love and attention. Over the next many years she would volunteer at the elementary school where all three kids went to school, just three blocks away from our house and a 10-year role as Community Kitchen Leader for our church, where she also volunteered with many other activities throughout the year. As the kids got older Juli started working for a business right next to Chris's business called Tubs To Go, where she did sales and order-taking for the business. As the kids were growing up now and becoming adults, Juli noticed some odd physical challenges. She often would not bother anyone with her concerns, but in 2014 when things started getting worse she decided it wasn't just the aging process and we started the long tedious process of determining what was going on. After endless road blocks of tests and more tests in the Pacific Northwest, we decided she should go see the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where they specialize in neurological diseases, which also included a road trip with her older sister Kim and a visit to her younger sister Traci in Nebraska. In the fall of 2014 we received the report that Juli had MSA, Multiple System Atrophy; we all were devastated. As her condition started to progress in 2014, she retired from Tubs To Go at the end of the year. Juli's condition was progressive and continued to progress, but through it all she was amazing. With this progression came more care and with resources dwindling, in the fall of 2020 she was approved for an AFH, Adult Family Home in Lynwood, Wash., Dedicated AFH. What an amazing place for Juli, they took such good care of her and you can tell they surely loved her and how amazing she was. Through all of this Juli has always stayed positive, smiled, laughed, never making anyone one feel unloved or unappreciated. Juli will be greatly missed by all, she truly made this world a better place.
The whole family would like to truly thank all the friends and volunteers who supported Juli during this extremely difficult time. Your care, contributions and visits to Juli will not be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5511 64th St. SE, Snohomish, WA 98290, at 10 a.m., with a reception to follow at the church. Pastor Bob Sinclair and Karen Reed will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Juli Reed's life.
The whole family would like to again thank everyone who helped, contributed, and supported Juli and her care throughout all of these years, especially Evergreen Hospice and Dedicated Adult Family Home.
