Judyth A. Hickey, 85, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Judyth Ann Hickey was born to Earl and Kathryn Snow in Cedar Rapids, IA. She married Gary Bowser and had one son, Robert Earl Bowser. They later divorced and she married the love of her life, Walter Hickey, on December 16, 1962. They had two daughters, Mikeala Kay and Angala Dawn. Judy was an avid stock car driver. She was a 2013 inductee on the Wall of Fame at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. She loved competing against her husband and son on the track. Together they owned a truck repair shop called Hickeys Truck Service, where she did the books. She also owned a restaurant called Hickeys Quickies.
They left Cedar Rapids to move up to Independence, IA, where they built their home together. While Walt worked, Judy spent many hours helping build the house. She then opened and operated a pie shop called Judy’s Pie Palace, where she made delicious pies, cookies, and cakes. Judy later retired to spend time with her family, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Her hobbies throughout life besides stock cars were bowling, crafting, as well as daily journaling. She loved riding as she had a trike motorcycle which she drove to Sturgis with her husband on his Harley. Her belief and faith in God got her through her entire life until the very end. She had a wonderfully adventurous life.
Left to carry on her memory are her husband, Walt Hickey, daughters Mikeala (Rodney) Hain of Palo, IA, Angala (Jay) Lawson of Salisbury, NC, grandkids; Jason (Rhonda) Bowser, Mt. Vernon, IA, Nick Bowser, Oklahoma, Josh Bowser, Mooresville, NC, Jeremy Hain, Cedar Rapids, IA, Justin Hain, Troy Mills, IA, Jacob Hain, Central City, IA, Brittani (Dean) Schnepf, Independence, IA, Amber Steggall, North Carolina, and Spenser (Haleigh) Lawson, Apache Junction, AZ; great-grandkids, Christopher, Jaxon, Lily, Walty, Rayden, Izzy, Sierra, Daxton, Oaklea, Kaelyn, Makenna, Hannah, Sara, and Jace.
