Judy Wood, 73, went to be with Jesus and her husband, Jerry, with her family by her side on Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2016, at the Joan and Ed Hemphill Hospice, UnityPoint St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa, with interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Boone will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where a parish vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m.
Surviving are three children, Todd (Linda) Sievers, Angela (Steve) Haugen and Rick (Amber) Sievers; seven grandchildren, Colton, Dalton and Cooper Sievers, Jessica (Dave) Stricker, Valerie Ellison and Madeline and Rebecca Haugen; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Kyan and Joscelyn Stricker; two brothers, Dennis (Sandy) Bayne and Joe Bayne; a sister, Janice (Elmer) Jandik; brother-in-law, Al Hinz; and brother and sisters-in-law, Leonard (Nelia) Wood and Lonnie Wood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Irene Bayne; her husband, Jerry; her sister, Pat Hinz; and sister-in-law, Mary Bayne.
Judy L. Bayne was born May 4, 1943, in Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of Ralph and Wilma Marshall Bayne. Judy graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1961. She married Gerald Sievers on Aug. 5, 1961, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa. Judy worked at Julin Printing in Monticello and also as a waitress. She was employed at Collins Radio in Anamosa for several years as well.
Jerry died unexpectedly on Aug. 28, 1973. Judy then started a career as a deputy clerk in the Jones County Clerk of Courts office. She retired from the clerk's office in 2000. Judy married LeRoy Wood on Jan. 20, 1983.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the BPW. She had been a Bluebird leader when Angela was little.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at UnityPoint St. Luke's Hosptial and Joan and Ed Hemphill Hospice for all their care and comfort during Judy's final days.
