Judy Topp Krummel, 72, of Iowa City, passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. A celebration of life will be held in the spring and details will be available closer to the date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Judy Krummel memorial fund.
Judy was born March 8, 1942, the daughter of Lester E. and Vada R. (Willits) Topp in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was raised in Harlingen, Texas, and graduated from Harlingen High School. She attended Texas Women's University and Texas A & I. Judy was united in marriage to Merle Krummel on Oct. 19, 1964, and they moved to Iowa City, in 1966.
Judy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Johnson County Fair board and Johnson County 4-H youth committee. She was a 4-H leader for 20 years, served as a Cub Scout leader and volunteered with Boy Scouts of America.
Judy is survived by her husband, Merle; a daughter, Kara (Ron) Logsden of Iowa City; a son, David Krummel of New Mexico; four grandchildren, Libby Logsden, Sean Krummel, Zachary Logsden and Emily Krummel; stepmother, Marian Topp of Harlingen, Texas; three brothers, Harry (Sandra) Edelman of Miami Beach, Fla., John (Darlene) Topp of Harlingen, Texas, and Robert (Leslie) Topp of Houston, Texas; one sister, Vickie (Robert) Cochrane of Boston, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
