Judith Ann Poduska, 78,
of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Solon, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, in her home. A Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at The Avacentre at Brosh Chapel in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar St. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Judith Ann was born July 29, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Forrest Clyde and Emily (Kravarik) Boxwell. She was united in marriage to Willard Poduska on April 27, 1968. Judy and Willard farmed in the Solon area for many years. She was on the Johnson County board of assessors. Judy earned a BSN degree from Mount Mercy in 1995. Later, she worked as a clerk in the SICU at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Mercy Medical Center. She was a clinical instructor at Kirkwood Community College. Judy enjoyed sewing, going to monthly events with the Village Co-Op members, boating and, most of all, spending time with her family, including the grandchildren and her cat, Sigfried.
She is survived by her children, Kim (Jim) Nelson and Joe (Janan) Poduska, both of Solon; three grandchildren, Megan (Tony) Dielschneider, Jim (Ashly) Nelson and Justine Joslyn; four great-grandchildren, Adrian, Jimmy, Gracie and Wyatt; her sister, Nancy (Terry) Franc of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Minnie Boxwell of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard, who died May 30, 1999; her son, Greg; and her brother, Forrest Boxwell.
