Judith Kay (Brown) Mattan, 83, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025 after a yearlong fight against stage IV lung cancer. A grave side service will be held on May 10, 2025 at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery in Clinton, IA at 11:30 am followed by a luncheon at the home of Dave and Janet Brown, 3828 Eagle Heights Drive, Clinton, IA.
Judith was born in Clinton, Iowa on March 11, 1941. She married August Charles Mattan, Jr. in the fall of 1961. They had four children: Mary (Becky) Rebecca Mattan Pratt (Jim Pratt) of Boone, IA, Anthony (Tony) Charles Mattan of Max Meadows, VA, Claire Renee Mattan (Gary Teague) of Johnston, IA, and James David Mattan of Des Moines, IA before divorcing in 1975.
In 1976, Judy passed the civil service exam and joined the Internal Revenue Service as an auditor where she worked full-time. Judy enjoyed her occupation and was successfully employed by the Internal Revenue Service for over 30 years.
She is survived by her children, 3 grandchildren, 2 brothers, a sister, many nieces and nephews, as well as her lifelong friend Ellen (Tritz) Tarnawa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Melissa Anne Brown.
