Judith "Judy" M. Kuch, 79, died Monday, July 30, 2018, at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne with the Rev. David Lingard officiating. Interment will be in the Keystone Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the St. Andrew Missionaries. Phillips Funeral Home, Vinton, is in charge of arrangements.
Judy was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Vinton, to Herman Conrad and Mildred Matilda (Fry) Brehm. She was baptized on June 23, 1940, in Van Horne. Judy graduated from Van Horne High School. She received her teaching degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Judy was united in marriage to Donald A.E. Kuch on Aug. 12, 1962, in Van Horne. She was confirmed on April 3, 1967. Judy was a second-grade teacher at Keystone Elementary for many years and later worked as a teacher at Kindercare in Cedar Rapids.
She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne, where she taught Sunday school. In her leisure, she enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Judy is survived by her husband, Donald; her children, Marc (Kim) Kuch, Terry Kuch, Lori (Chandler) Woodward and Pamela (Rand) Hartman; her grandchildren, Syrena, Meghan, Ryder, Nathen and Olivia; her stepgrandchildren, Brad Campbell, Mallory Daily, Alison Mundt, Karleigh Miller, Mackenzie Miller, Hannah Miller and Eli Miller; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Colin, Kenley and Brinley Campbell, Brielle and Calvin Daily and Harper Mundt; her three sisters, Bonita Wilson, Lynda Hachmann and Evelyn (Larry) Wiebke; her brother, Joe (Marlys) Brehm; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers-in-law, Dick Hachmann and Bill Wilson; and two grandchildren, Eli and Trusten Woodward.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center, Home Instead and UnityPointe Hospice for the loving care they gave to Judy.
