Judith "Judy" Khan, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, at the Paula J. Faber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge, following a lengthy illness. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids by Pastor Rick Gail. Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, John Messina, Larry Messina, Dominic Messina, Julia (Logan) Huebner and Lynnette Ross; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill, Carolyn (Bob), Nancy, Lois, Pam (Gary) and Bruce (Rhonda); and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Judith Ann Smith was born Nov. 20, 1942, in Michigan to Arthur and Edna (Beals) Smith. She graduated High School in California. Judith worked as a custodian for many years at St. Louis University and St. Louis public schools. Judy moved around a bit, but spent a lot of time near family in the Cedar Rapids area. She enjoyed spending time with her pets, especially Fluffy and Baby, gardening flowers and plants, visiting plant and flower nurseries, shopping garage sales, watching soap operas, and was a skilled swimmer. Judy was a strong-willed and independent person – characteristics she shared with her children - but also generous and caring. Judy was a family-oriented person, and enjoyed spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur (Evelyn) and Edna (Lyle); and brother, James.
