Judith “Judy” A. Gudenkauf, 80, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Marietta’s Place in Manchester. She was born on Aug. 26, 1941, in Zwingle, the daughter of John F. and Florence (Kemp) Foust. Judy was raised and educated in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School. She attended Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque and became a registered nurse.
On Nov. 7, 1962, Judy was united in marriage to Dennis A. Gudenkauf at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Three children were born to this union. Together, they farmed west of Manchester for many years. Judy and Dennis also operated Manchester Farm Equipment from 1969 to 1986. Dennis passed away in 2016.
Judy was a longtime faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and a former member of the West Delaware School Board. She loved being a nurse even in her later years. Her priorities were her faith, family and her community. Judy enjoyed attending all her grandchildren’s activities and never missed a family event. Her grandchildren knew she was always good for a piece of gum. Judy truly loved her family.
Survivors include her three children, June (Dave) Stamy of Robins, Rob (Susan) Gudenkauf of Manchester and Tom (Maria) Gudenkauf of Coralville; nine grandchildren, Megan (Nate) Lahr, Wes (Katie) Gudenkauf, Sarah (Ryan) Kelley, Hillary (Blake) Barker, Eric Zenisek, Lyndsey (Alex) Vorwald, Alex (Claire) Gudenkauf, Ryan Gudenkauf and Nathan Gudenkauf; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ron (Margaret) Foust, Jerry (Janet) Foust, Bob (MaryAnn) Foust and Mary Jean Uptegraph; and her sister-in-law, Diane Foust.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis; and her brother, Richard Foust.
