Judith Ann Chiafos, 70, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital. A Celebration of Life open house will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 20, at the Marion Columbus
Club, 5650 Kacena Ave.
Survivors include her sisters, Karen K. (Duane) Jacobs of Cedar Rapids, Colleen M. (Larry) Bowman of Roso, Minn., and Rebecca S. (Robert) Wickland of Roso. Judy did not have any children of her own but cherished and loved her many nieces and nephews. She especially enjoyed the company and care of her local nieces and nephews, Tony, Jen, Emily, Ryan Rosenberg and Rob, Christin, Abby and Chloe Hanson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter, and her parents.
Judith was born Dec. 4, 1947, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Cleo (Mettlin) Blake. Judith grew up in Jesup and moved to Coggan and later settled in Cedar Rapids. She married Peter Chiafos in 1987. Judith was a dietary cook for Living Center East in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed cooking, watching John Wayne movies and spending time with her family.
The family would like to thank Heritage Specialty Care and Dr. Mary Anne Nelson for their tender loving care of Judy in her last difficult years.
