JUANITA "NITA" BEA MERSCH

Juanita Bea Mersch "Nita," of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Cedar Rapids and Phoenix, Ariz., passed away peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2016, in Las Vegas with her family by her side. Her funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18, at St. Joseph HOM Catholic Church in Las Vegas. Burial will take place at the veterans cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.
Those left to cherish Juanita's memory are her husband of 58 years, Lee Mersch; and her four children, James (Julie) Mersch, Valory (Wade) Simpson, Kathie Mersch and Michael Mersch. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Ashley Simpson, Gretchen Mersch, Cullen Mersch, Taylor Mersch, Jonathan Mersch, Leah Simpson, Derek Simpson and Keauna Martinez. She is also survived by one great-grandchild, Isabel Grace Mersch.
Juanita was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on Feb. 16, 1936, to Basil Nash and Anna Sitinsky. On June 14, 1958, Juanita was united in marriage to Lee Charles Mersch at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; her grandson, Sean Mersch; a son-in-law, Paul Martinez; lifelong friend, Sandy Plotz; and many other good souls.
Mom had a good life, she loved God and people and that's all any of us are called to do. If you would like to do something in her memory, write a heartfelt letter to a friend. She'd like that.
