Joye Davidson, 94, of Mechanicsville, passed from this life Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at the Rehabilitation Center
of Lisbon. Per Joye's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private committal service will take place at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, is caring for Joye and her family.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Greenfield, Nancy Haesemeyer, Susan (Jim) Vorhies and Scott (Shauna) Davidson; grandchildren, Lindsay (Alex) Vidal and Jeff Greenfield (Kate); and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Joye G. Scott was born May 28, 1927, to Hurley and Gladys (Koppenhaver) Scott. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1945. Joye married Robert "Bob" Davidson on June 4, 1947, at the United Methodist Church, Mechanicsville. Joye was active in the community, especially with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 309, Mechanicville Garden Club, and both Couples and Tuesday Bridge Club. Joye was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society, and was a dedicated resident advocate and volunteer for Mechanicsville Care Center. Joye and Bob were also very involved with supporting and attending events for the Kirkwood Community College Foundation.
The joy of Joye's life was helping her husband tend the farm and caring for her beloved family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; sister, LaVaughn and husband, Milford Pruess; brother, Roxy and wife Marlene Scott; brother-in-law, Don and wife Jean Davidson; and sons-in-law, Richard Greenfield and Brooks Haesemeyer.
Memorials may be directed to the Kirkwood Foundation for the Robert and Joye Davidson Endowed Scholarship for Deserving Students, 6301 Kirkwood Blvd. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406.
The family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon for their generous and loving care of Joye.
