Joyce Mann
JOYCE A. MANN
Cedar Rapids
We celebrate the life of Joyce A. Mann, 95 years old, who was born Jan. 16, 1922. Joyce went to be with the Lord on Feb. 1, 2017, in her home at Cottage Grove in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, surrounded by the family who loved her so much. Joyce was a gracious, kind and loving mother, grandmother and friend, who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Joyce was born in Plainfield, Ill., where she grew up, to Bert and Helen (Heiser) Sollenberger. She was an outstanding kindergarten teacher in Naperville and the surrounding area for 35 years, and she loved and cared for every one of her students. Besides Jesus and her family, teaching was one of the greatest joys of her life.
Joyce Sollenberger married James "Bud" Mann in 1944 in Plainfield and they celebrated their 62nd anniversary before Jim joined his Lord in heaven in 2006.
Joyce is survived by her son, Kerry Mann and wife, Kay, of Cedar Rapids, and daughter, Michele Stahly and husband, Greg, of Charleston, S.C. In addition, Joyce was the proud grandmother of Casey Mann of Littleton, Colo., Heather Mann of Boulder, Colo., Jason Riley of Shellsburg, Iowa, and Megan Chrissotimos and husband, Peter, of Cedar Rapids.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Curtis Sollenberger.
Joyce's life will be celebrated at a family memorial service in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to New Covenant Bible Church, 3090 N. Center Point Rd., Cedar Rapids, IA 52411, where Joyce faithfully attended church nearly every Sunday during the years she lived in Cedar Rapids.
