JOYCE LINDEMANN (ANDERSON)

Joyce Leah Lindemann (Anderson) of Cedar Rapids passed away in Mesa, Ariz., on Nov. 21, 2016, at the age of 70.
Joyce was born in Clinton, Iowa, on Aug. 12, 1946, the third daughter of John and Gladys (Rusch) Lindemann. Active in music, speech, sports and 4-H in her youth, Joyce attended the University of Central Missouri. A lifelong learner, she earned a degree in respiratory therapy, which she used as a Navy Reservist. She graduated with a B.A. in communication studies and later matriculated an M.A. from the College of Education at the University of Iowa, specializing in adult education.
As a Master Gardener, she enjoyed teaching horticulture Latin, promoting friendship gardening and recycling for yard art. Joyce relished reading, music, ice skating, sewing, barnyard carpentry, gardening and furniture restoration and refinishing. She worked in marketing and advertising for many years in Cedar Rapids and served 20 years in the U.S. Navy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, JoAnn Leone (Marvin) Ackerland of Moline, Ill.; and a grandson, Jacob Anderson of Blairstown.
Surviving are two sons, Glenn Anderson (Denise) of Ladora and Gerald "Gerry" Anderson (Christina) of Blairstown; and three grandchildren, Perry, Zane and Lori. Also surviving are sisters, JoNette Louise (Nile) Rollene of Dows amd Joelle Lynn (Bill) Snyder of Altoona; and brother, Joseph Louis of Calamus.
There will be a celebration of Joyce's life at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Peace Church, 6600 C Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
