Joyce LaVon Divoky, 94, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Northbrook Manor Care Center. A private funeral service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with burial taking place in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
LaVon was born Nov. 22, 1928, to Edward and Verda Mae (Schaffer) Kinney in Clarence, Iowa. She attended Paris Beauty Academy, where she received her beautician license. LaVon owned her own beauty salon during the 1950s through the mid 60s. She married Eugene Divoky on July 30, 1955, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. From this union they had four daughters. She was a member of the National Hairdressers Association, American Business Women’s Association and First Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Renae, Nancy Ann, Mary Lynn and Sandra Jeanne; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her two sisters; and her brother.
Lavon was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Northbrook Manor Care for their dedication to mother’s care.
