Joyce E. Boyd, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at West Ridge Care Center. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. There will be a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Randy Kasch will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Susan (Jeff) Witt of Blaine, Minn., Steve (Connie) of Slater, Deb Gardner of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Jeffrey (Julie) of Troy, Mo.; and nine grandchildren, David (Nikki) and their son, Townes, Sarah, Daniel (Diana), Brandt, Tim, Laura, Andrew, Jessica (Darron) and Courtney.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Don; and a sister, Lois.
Joyce was born Jan. 14, 1927, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of William and Emma Brandt Wakeland. She married Otis S. Boyd Jr. on Aug. 28, 1947, in St. Paul. Otis (Buz) passed away in 2009.
Joyce was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and past president of Linn County Food Bank. She enjoyed reading, volunteering and traveling with her husband throughout the United States and Europe.
Her greatest enjoyment, however, was the time spent with her beloved family and many friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
