Joyce Ann Goldsberry, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Wednesday, January 17, 2024, following a long illness. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM, at the church. The burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joyce was born April 06, 1933, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Emmett and Irene (Heebner) Maguire. She married Verne Goldsberry on January 22, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska. Joyce was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and then St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, baking for the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House, cooking, and her church circle. Joyce especially loved family birthdays, holidays, and playing with her great-grand kids. She will always be remembered for being a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Survivors include her six daughters: daughter, Cathy (David) Hickman and children Nicholas, Phillip, and Alex (Erica), daughter Janet (Bud) Perschek and children Rebecca (Chris), Suzy (Micheal), Patty (Jason) and Ben, daughter Nancy Goebel (Paul McDermott) and children Heather (Scott), and Marcy, daughter Beth Scribner and children Roger (Jeanne), Chris, and Andrew (Briana), daughter Lisa (Jon) Wright and child Lance, and daughter Mickey (Scott) Shannahan and children Katy (Cody Campbell) and Trevor, a sister Pat (Dick) Miller, and many loving great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Verne Goldsberry, two grandsons Eric Pollett and Verne Hickman, and sons-in-law Bob Goebel and Roger Scribner.
The family would like to thank all the staff from Hospice of Mercy and Mercy Hallmar for their love, support and tender care given to Joyce.
