Joyce A. Davis, 78, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. A visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joyce A. Davis was born on April 1, 1945, in Frederick, Wis., the daughter of John and Johanna Hinrichs. Joyce enjoyed helping others, being with family, her morning coffee, and reading the newspaper. She and Niles loved to create beautiful landscapes. Joyce will be remembered as a strong, and beautiful women. She always put others before her own needs.
Joyce is survived by her children, Susan Peterson, and Sonda (Mark) Kelchen; adopted grandsons, Shane Peterson Davis and Seth Peterson Davis; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Derek Davis, Shelly (Karl) Keys, Joe (Sandy) Davis, Rebecca (John) Vause and Gerrie (Ed) Shover; and many loving extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Niles Davis; two children, Scott and Shane Peterson; two grandchildren, Rochelle Dickinson and Lacey Peterson; and a daughter-in-law, Denene Kyennen.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joyce may be directed to the family.
