Joy Kim Fisher, 31, of Cedar Rapids, died unexpectedly on Jan. 2, 2017, in Anamosa.
Joy was born in Daejeon, South Korea, on Nov. 11, 1985, and was adopted into the family of Allen and Ellen Fisher of Cedar Rapids on Jan. 21, 1987. She attended Cedar Rapids public schools and graduated from Coe College in 2008 with a B.A. in biology.
Joy was an exuberant and keen observer of nature and was an especially ardent lover of animals. She was co-owner of Elevate Vertical Fitness in Cedar Rapids and served as an instructor there.
She is survived by her parents; brother, Martin (Katy Olive) Fisher; niece, Lillian; and many wonderful family and friends.
There will be a visitation at which friends can greet the family on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 9:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 310 Fifth St. SE, in Cedar Rapids. At 11 a.m., there will be a service in memory of Joy, with Pastor Heather Hayes presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Indian Creek Nature Center, 6665 Otis Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
