Josy Cress, 92, of Center Point, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial: Alice Cemetery, rural Center Point. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Josy is survived by her children, Ginny (Bill) Geers
of Alburnett and Dale (Pat) Cress and Connie (Darrell) Moore, both of Center Point; grandchildren, Tammy (Kevin) Humpfer, Craig Curtis, Matt (Tiffany) Cress, Eric (Amber) Cress, Megan (Jake) Gatrost, Josh (Missy) Roseberry, Roger Roseberry, Micky Roseberry, Alishia (Casey) Klocke and Sami (Cameron) Eubanks; great-grandchildren, Haley (Steven) Copeland, Bryce Humpfer, Emma Curtis, Landyn, Grady, Peyton, Harper and Cade Cress, Ellie Gatrost, Easton Roseberry, Taryn Moore, and Chase and Chloe Eubanks; two future great-grandchildren, arriving in the summer; and sisters, Louise Bolton and Mary Serbousek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin "Sam" Cress; parents; son, Melvin LeRoy Cress; sisters, Georgia Shadwick, Anna Gage; and her dog, Zoey.
Josy was born April 27, 1924, in Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Smrha) Rabik. She married Melvin "Sam" Cress on July 18, 1942, in Center Point. Josy enjoyed working with her husband on the farm and milking cows for 47 years. She also spent a lot of time baking and gardening.
