Joshua Dean Holtz, 48, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Delaware County Community Center, Manchester. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
Josh was born on Dec. 31, 1974, in Manchester, the son of Dean Holtz and Pamela Holm. He graduated from West Delaware High School in 1993 and went on to attend Kirkwood Community College. Josh married Laura Rissler on March 16, 1996, in Manchester; seven children were born to this union. He worked with his father through Iowa Technologies, to bring technological support and enhancement to customers across the tri-state area. Josh was a member of the Golden Congregational Church, past president of the Maquoketa Valley Athletics Booster, and founder of the Wildcat Attack Volleyball Club.
When Josh wasn’t at work, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. You would find him coaching his children’s sporting events, cheering on Maquoketa Valley, boating and taking the kids skiing on Lake Delhi, singing Karaoke, and enjoyed listening to live music with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Josh is survived by his wife, Laura Holtz of Manchester; children, Ali (Aaron) Primrose of Ankeny, Iowa, Ashley (Josh) Schmitt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Abby Holtz of Ankeny, Andrew, Avery, Anderson, and Ava Holtz at home; his father, Dean (Deborah) Holtz of Delaware, Iowa; mother, Pamela (Timothy) Dorgan of Marion, Iowa; sisters, Jessica (Timothy) Quinn and Emily (Casey) Cole; half-brother, Robb Holtz ( Korie Hebert); stepsiblings, Megan Dorgan, Erin Dorgan (Ron Tourville), Jamie (Alissa) Gray, Jacob (Taylor) Coyle and Jared Coyle; mother- and father in-law, Jane and Jeff Rissler of Manchester; sister and brother-in-law, Rachel (Shane) Leytem, Matt (Sarah) Rissler; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Leta Mae Holtz, and Trudy and Bill Hahesy.
