Joseph Terrell Montgomery Sr., 73, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, February 16, 2024, at his home. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Burial with military honors will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Joseph was born March 10, 1950, in Blountstown, Florida. He graduated from Mayhaw High School. Joseph was united in marriage to Frances Elizabeth Holliday on December 3, 1983. He worked for the United States Army for 18 years and later for the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department.
Survivors include his son, Joseph (Erica) Montgomery Jr. of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Shawnda (Myron) Wade of Orlando, Florida, and Felicia McKinney of Cedar Rapids; and grandchildren, Raije Doctor, Demarcus Daniels, Eleecia Ratcliff, Liam Joseph Montgomery and Hannah Montgomery; his favorite sister, Juanita Hall of Blountstown, Florida; and many nieces and nephews in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Frances Montgomery.
