Joseph L. Krabill was born March 15, 1930, near Noble, Iowa, a son of Robert and Amanda (Wyse) Krabill. He was baptized in his youth at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. Growing up in the Wayland area, he graduated from Wayland High School in 1947. Joe began work as a carpenter and served in 1-W alternative service at the Oakdale tuberculosis sanatorium in the early 1950s. He married Betty J. Roth on November 17, 1956, in Wellman, and the two were long-time members of Wellman Mennonite Church. For over 35 years, the couple and their family lived southeast of Wellman where Joe farmed and worked as a bricklayer in the area. In 1997 the couple moved to Iowa City where they became members of First Mennonite Church. Joe was known to many as a hard worker, a people person who knew no stranger, glad to share stories, and well known for his friendly smile.

Krabill (Ellen); and sisters-in-law, Darlene Roth, Marilyn Roth, Miriam Roth and Rachael Roth.
