Joseph "Joey" Andrew Sterk, 35, of Walford, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018. Celebration of Life services will be at noon Saturday, Aug. 18, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at Brosh Chapel. A private family inurnment will be a later date.
Joseph was born May 6, 1983, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Larry "Joe" and Sandra (Addison) Sterk. He attended Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School.
Joey enjoyed welding, working on cars, studying and tinkering with technology. He was an engaging and playful uncle. He loved visiting with family and friends. Joey was a hard worker with a warm heart and soul.
Joey is survived by his parents of Walford; his sister, Josie Rowe of Cedar Rapids; nieces, Liberty and Macy Rowe; nephew, Miles Rowe; grandmother, Grace Sterk; his aunts and uncles, Dennis (Nancy) Sterk, Gary Sterk, Scott (Beth) Sterk, Brent (Kelly) Sterk, Ed (Beth) Sterk, Cheryl (Mike) Last and Pam Addison; as well as many cousins.
Joey was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Sterk and Max Addison; his grandmother, Jean (Addison) Rowe; and his aunts, Rita Hawthorne, Betty Hall and Suzanne Phillips.
