JOSEPH GREIG MORAVEC
Germantown, Wis.
Joseph Greig Moravec, 73, of Germantown, Wis., died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021.
He was born July 12, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Victor and Jane Moravec.
He graduated Washington High School
in 1966, went into the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS LaSalle. Discharged in 1968, Greig moved to Omaha, Neb., where he began his career in sales. He married Barbara Maye Gibson on July 10, 1971, in Lincoln, Neb., and they had two sons, Christopher Michael (1973) and Joseph
Scott (1974).
Moving back to Cedar Rapids in 1980, Greig went to work for the Garland Co., which introduced him to the commercial roofing business. After working territories in Iowa and Florida, he settled in Germantown, Wis., and in 1997 opened his own roofing business, Commercial Consultants Group.
Greig was a licensed small-aircraft pilot who enjoyed owning his own plane and taking trips around the Midwest. He was also a dedicated walleye fisherman who took annual fishing trips to Canada with family members and friends.
Barbara, a registered nurse, retired in 2012. Greig retired in 2019.
He is survived by his wife and sons; grandchildren, Abigail and Max Moravec and Colby Moravec; a brother, Jeff (Kelly) of Minneapolis, Minn.; sister, Sue (Jay) of Portland, Ore.; and nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Moravec, Mac and Ursula Brandt, and Allyson and Zach Moravec.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steven Victor; and sister, Tracy Ann.
