Joseph C. Gantner III, 62, of Hiawatha, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following complications from a traumatic brain injury. Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Twin Pines Baptist Church, located at 95 S. Mentzer Rd., Robins, with Pastor Ken Koske presiding. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Dec. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is serving the family.
Joe was born Feb. 5, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Mary June and Joseph C. Gantner II. He attended The Ohio State University and worked as a financial adviser in the Cedar Rapids area.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel of Hiawatha; daughters, Meredith and Paige Gantner; mother, Mary June (Jim Hyslip); brother, Terry (Deborah) Gantner; nephew, Brian Gantner; niece, Gabrielle Gantner; stepchildren, Ethan, Derrick and Seth Peyton; and in-laws, Clayton and Doris Ohrt, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marta and Rob Rouse.
He was preceded in death by his father.
