Joseph Howard Freeman, 64, of 1220 Fifth Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Bettendorf, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Salem United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Joe will be buried at Mount Nebo Cemetery in Davenport.
Survivors include his sister, Bev Freeman; brothers-in-law, Richard Bowers and Mike Collins; his nephews, Eric Bowers, Ross Collins and Brady Collins; cousins, Jim Glickman, Barbara Light Casey, Fred Light and Robert Light; his uncle, Paul Light; cousins, Melissa Freeman, Tamra Gallo and Joe Freeman; and his aunt, Sandra (Freeman) Gladstone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Freeman; his mother, Harriette Freeman; and his sister, Margaret (Peg) Freeman Bowers.
Joe was born and raised in Bettendorf and was a graduate of the University of Iowa. He worked retail in the Quad Cities for some time and then, when he married, moved to Cedar Rapids. Since divorced, he has lived in Cedar Rapids for almost 20 years. He celebrated his 64th birthday with his sister, Bev, and her husband, Mike Collins, on Oct. 7 in Cedar Rapids.
