Joseph Stanley Dzikonski, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, in Carrollton, Texas.
Surviving are his children, Jill (Kevin) Sullivan and Craig (Alisha) Dzikonski; brothers, Frank (Judy) and Tom (Ethel) Dzikonski; sisters, Sister Rosalynn Dzikonski, Louise Burlager and Veronica (Jerome) Nelson; and grandchildren, Luke, Jacob and Matthew Sullivan, Quinn and Tate Dzikonski and Brielle Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; brothers, Raymond and Edmund Dzikonski; and sister, Regina Kowalik.
Joseph was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Superior, Wis., to Joseph and Pearl Dzikonski. He graduated from Central High School in Superior, and married Ruth Joanne Carlson there on July 12, 1958. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1951-1953.
After attending Brown Institute in Minneapolis, he was employed at WMNE radio in Menomonie, Wis. He had been a resident of Cedar Rapids since 1959. That same year, he joined Collins Radio Co. (Rockwell), retiring in 1990 after 31 years.
He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. He was cubmaster of Troop 134 from 1975 to 1976, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and St. Pius Church.
