JOSEPH DUMOND

Joseph Dumond, 80, of Monticello, formerly of Palo, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Palo United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his children, Joe (Lisa) Dumond, Joaney (Steve) Railsback and Peggy (Denis) McAllister; a sister, Carol Dudley; and many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Dumond; mother, Doris Dumond; brother, Don Dumond; and sisters, June Wacker and Violet Dumond.
Joe was born Nov. 14, 1936, to Roy and Doris Dumond, from Wickiup Hill. He graduated from Palo High School in 1955. He served in the Iowa National Guard for six years. He retired from Iowa Manufacturing (Cedarapids Inc.) after 47 years. He also volunteered at the Palo Fire Department. In his earlier years, he enjoyed drag racing and working on cars as well as going to car shows with his blue truck.
