Joseph Brandt, 66, passed away Aug. 31, 2018, at his home in Marengo, Iowa. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, starting at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Joseph David Brandt was born Sept. 22, 1951, in Waverly, Iowa, to Roy and Dawn Brandt. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971.
Joe worked as an auto mechanic for all of his life. On Jan. 4, 1997, Joe married Mary Wohlert at the Concordian Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Joe and Mary enjoyed many happy years together fishing, camping and spending time with their family. Joe also volunteered his time mowing the 4-H grounds.
Joe is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Curt Brandt of Cedar Rapids and Tim Brandt of Toddville; two sisters, Debbie (Gil) Sells of Cedar Rapids and Kris (Don) Schluter of Marion; two brothers, Kevan Brandt in Colorado and Larry (Kathy) Brandt in Arkansas; one stepdaughter, Heather (Doug) Poffenberger ; one special niece, Stacy Sells; four grandchildren, Reid, Sage, Chris and Trent; and three stepgrandchildren, Ashton, Acelyn and Emma.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
