Joseph Walter Brott, 89, of Lincoln, Neb., died July 31, 2014. He was born June 15, 1925 in North Platte, Neb., to George F. and Oscel Faye (Barber) Brott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brothers.
He is survived by his wife, June; daughters,
Judy (Jerald) Buss and Jody Brott, both of Lincoln, Neb., and Julie (F. Mark) Walters, Ely, Iowa; grandchildren, April (Justin) Douglas and Crystal (Patrick) Ridder of Lincoln, Neb., Tom Walters, Ely, and Sarah Walters, Naples, Fla.; and six great-grandchildren.
Raised in North Platte, Neb., Joe served in World War II in France and Germany from 1943 to 1946. He married June Roseland Davidson on June 30, 1946, in North Platte. Joe worked for the UPRR, NE National Guard and Motorola. Lt. Col. Joseph W. Brott retired from the Army Reserves in 1980.
Joe was a man of strong faith, unlimited patience, with a quirky and kind sense of humor, warm smile, clear blue eyes, firm handshake, unending curiosity and creativity. "Old Joe" loved wood carving, teaching others, nature, photography, hunting and fishing. Joe will be greatly missed.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 O St., Lincoln, Neb. Visitation: 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the funeral home with family greeting from
6 to 8 p.m.
