Joseph Brammer
JOSEPH D. BRAMMER
Cedar Rapids
Joseph D. Brammer, 59, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away following heart complications on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, while being comforted by family.
Joe was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on April 20, 1959, to Phil and Nancy Brammer. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1977. While at Jefferson, Joe enjoyed being a member of the speech and debate club. He went on to attend Central College in Pella.
Joe's career in finance started in the early 1980s at First Trust and Savings Bank in Cedar Rapids. Joe and his family moved to Anchorage in 1992, soon to excel in the mortgage lending industry. For the last 10 years, Joe was employed by Residential Mortgage as a loan originator. Joe established many friendships with both coworkers and clients alike.
Joe loved living in Alaska. He especially loved fishing and camping, where he discovered his niche in grilling. #grillmaster
As much as Joe loved his career, he also had a true love for life. He had fun in everything he said and did. His captivating presence brought joy to all and he will be remembered for his infectious laugh and generosity. His corny jokes, often known as "Joe-ism's" will be a cherished memory for all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Brammer; daughter, Kate (Mitch) Helle and their children, Harper, Max and Brooks; son, Carson (Jasmine Stires) Brammer and their children, Jude and Evelyn; sisters, Vicky Scott, Jeanne Cole and Kathy (Bob Broadhurst) Mincks; and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was proceeded in death by his daughter, Emily; his parents; his brother, Tom; and his canine companion, Maverik.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Legacy Funeral-Heritage Chapel at Angelus, 440 E. Klatt Rd. Anchorage, AK 99515. Family will begin greeting friends at noon. A celebration honoring Joe will be held at Gallo's Mexican Restaurant located at 8311 Arctic Blvd. between 4 and 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Joe's grandchildren. Cards will accepted in care of Kathy Mincks, 6909 Serenity Dr., Anchorage, AK 99502.
