JOSEPH AUCHUS Cedar Rapids Joseph Auchus, 61, of San Tan Valley, Ariz., died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, in his home due to natural causes. Joseph was born Sept. 8, 1954, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Irene Gensel and William Auchus Jr. Joseph was a Cedar Rapids police officer for 22 years and a member of the military, serving in both the Army National Guard and Army Reserves for a total of 36 years. He was a veteran of both Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Joseph loved the outdoors and had a strong love for hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He is survived by his two children, Theresa and Richard Auchus; his father, William Auchus Jr.; four siblings, Sylvia Wesley, Donna Harrison, Douglas Auchus and Candy Gensel; and many other relatives and friends. Joseph was preceded by the death of his mother, Irene Gensel. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, followed with military honors.
