Jordan, William D.
William D. Jordan, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, following a brief illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, by the Rev. William Harnish. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery, rural Coggon. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
William is survived by five daughters, Judy Earls of Keokuk, Rosemary (Tim) Vandenbrink of George, Terri Rivera of Indianapolis, Ind., Mary Lou (Mitch DeLarm) Cantrell of Cedar Rapids, and Sandra (Neil) Cole of Perkins, Okla.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Elwood (Joann) Jordan of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Bonnie Beadle of Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen; his parents, Prosper and Mabel (Williams) Jordan; brother, Eugene “Jiggs” Jordan; and sister, Betty Amber.
William was born Dec. 23, 1934, in Granger, Iowa, and came to Cedar Rapids from Oskaloosa when he was 19 years old. He married Ellen I. Fleming on Oct. 25, 1961, in Galena, Ill. She died June 11, 2005. Bill was employed by the City of Cedar Rapids Sanitation Department for 30 years, retiring in 1991.
Bill enjoyed deer hunting, bowling and playing pool when he was younger. He loved watching his “Westerns” on television.
