Jones, Terry R. 'Cactus'

Terry R. “Cactus” Jones, 69, of Mechanicsville, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mechanicsville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bill Harnish officiating. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Chapman's in Clarence.

Survivors include his wife, Avis; two sons, Keith (Darla) of Decorah and Gene of Bellevue; daughter, Julie Johnson of Marion; six grandchildren, Sarah, Erin and Lindsey Jones, Hunter Jones and Kayla and Alex Johnson; two nephews; and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Doug.

Terry was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, to Charles Dillon and Fern Rullman Jones. He married Avis Warmuth on Jan. 25, 1964, in Mechanicsville. Terry graduated from Lincoln High School. He worked for Cryovac for 42 years as a forklift operator, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a past member of the Mechanicsville Fire & Ambulance crew and belonged to a number of different associations, including the Cedar County Sportsmans Club, Iowa Trapshooters Association, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, NRA and was a former teamster member. He enjoyed racing, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also loved his family and grandchildren and their activities.
