Jones, Rex C.
Rex C. Jones, 80, of Independence, Iowa, died Friday morning, Aug. 2, 2013, at is home in Independence, Iowa.
Rex was born July 30, 1933, in Dike, Iowa, the son of Millard and Fannie (Witte) Jones. He graduated from Jesup High School, Jesup, Iowa. After high school he joined the U.S. Army on Sept. 2, 1953, and served proudly until his discharge in 1955. He married Marcia Baird in 1953 and they were later divorced. On May 24, 1969, Rex married Carolyn Schoonover Hallett at the United Methodist Church in Independence. For 33 years, he was a loyal employee of John Deere.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jones; and his eight children, Randy (Debi) Jones, Independence, Karen (Shawn) Hoaglan, Independence, Robyn (Fred) Brookhouser, New Mexico, Kevin Hallett, Independence, Kathy (Craig) Finholt, Independence, Rod Jones, Bonita Springs, Fla., Rusty Jones, Yuba City, Calif. and Kendall Hallett, Madison, Wis.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred Burman.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday Aug. 16, at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, with Dr. David Larson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Brandon Cemetery, Brandon, Iowa.
