Jones, Mildred
Mildred Jones, 89, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, after a brief illness. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. today at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Private graveside services: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Jones of Fairfax, Va.
Mildred was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on May 11, 1920, to William and Mamie (Flecksing) Chase. After graduating from Wilson High School, she married Chester Jones of Cedar Rapids who, after 52 years of marriage, preceded her in death in 1993. Mildred was a housewife, homemaker, amateur pianist and taught Sunday school for several years. After losing her home in the 2008 flood, she resided at Emeritus at Silver Pines in Cedar Rapids.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
