Jon was born Aug. 6, 1973, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Stanley and Sharon Stallman Wacha. He graduated from Prairie High School in 1991 and attended Kirkwood Community College. He entered the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 1994 and was a police officer for more than 20 years before retiring from the Lake Mills Police Department. He was employed by Karl Chevrolet in Webster City, where he enjoyed selling his favorite Chevys.
Jon loved his son, was a wonderful person and will be missed by his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and loved deer hunting with his bow and shotgun. He and his buddies would hunt Tama County every season and get a lot of deer. He also enjoyed farming and mowing. In the fall and spring, you could find him in the fields and in the summer on the lawn mower. He loved NASCAR. When he could not attend a race he would watch his favorite driver, Carl Edwards, on television.
Memorials may be directed to his family for Ryan's education: Jon Wacha Memorial, 3728 Stoneview Circle SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
