Jon Arthur Passer, 50, USA, Retired, of Winning Wheels, Prophetstown, Ill., passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 25, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jon was born April 18, 1965, to Jerry and Susan Burton Passer at Bethesda Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Md. He was a graduate of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. He was active in plays, the school newspaper and choir. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, and graduated from Defense Information School at Fort Benjamin in Harrison, Ind. Jon was stationed in Germany and was a reporter and radio announcer on Armed Forces Radio and Television. He received several commendations for his reporting.
While in Germany, he fell from a truck and suffered a serious brain injury and was medically retired from the Army. For the past 14 years he lived at Winning Wheels in Prophetstown.
Jon is survived by his father, Jerry; his sister, Kimberly (Troy) Park; nephews, Tristan, Gavin and Kalen; niece, Aleah Park; his aunts, Carlo (Jim) Quekenbush and Marjorie Lorenzen; many cousins; close friends; and the staff of Winning Wheels.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan, and grandparents.
