Jon Michael Noah, 75, of Waubeek, formerly of Marion, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the funeral home in Central City. Burial: Jordan's Grove Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Pam "Penny"; his children, Julie Noah of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Noah of Cedar Rapids, Vicki Noah of Marion, Denny Noah of Cedar Rapids, Michelle McGovern of Central City and Greg (Tamara) Strand of Marion; nine grandchildren, Jillian, Justin, Joshua (Megan), Dalton, Lauren, Brandon, Olivia, Addi and Samuel; and two great-grandchildren, Sabit and Sebastian. He also is survived by his brother, Jerry (Annee) Noah of Waubeek; sister, Lori (Jim) Van Zuuk of Central City; canine companion, "Mattie"; feline pal, "Andi"; nephew, Andy (Lisa); and nieces, Stephanie (Kevin), and Jamie.
Jon was born April 18, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Lorin and Evalyn (Freeman) Noah. He married Pamela (Rohrick) Strand on Feb. 16, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. He was a purchaser for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids for over 30 years.
Jon loved music and was a talented musician himself; he was known to be a walking musical encyclopedia. He played guitar and sang in various 1950s- to 1970s-era local bands over the years. He also enjoyed riding his classic motorcycle and helping his wife manage their many pets.
Jon had a wicked sense of humor (dry with sarcasm) and loved to discuss (argue) politics and religion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wife, Beverly (Davis); and many pets, formerly of "Noah's Ark."
