Jon Kemmerer, 69, of Ely, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, in his home. As per Jon's wishes, private
family services will be held at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Inurn-ment will be at a later date.
Jon was born July 6, 1945, in Boone, the son of Arthur and Rosamond (Stumbo) Kemmerer. He graduated from Boone High School and later from Iowa State University, with a degree in journalism. Jon was united in marriage to Elaine Baker on Aug. 13, 1966, in Ogden. He worked in advertising and sales for the Cedar Rapids Gazette for over 14 years and later with Midland Press in the Quad Cities.
Jon enjoyed camping, horseback riding, fishing, reading, and most of all, the time spent with his family.
Jon is survived by his wife, Elaine; three daughters, Daniella (Scott) Smith of Cedar Rapids, Michelle (Todd) Hanna of Ely and Kimberly (Quinn) Bingham of Luzerne; seven grandchildren, Megan and Justin Smith, Brandon and Caitlyn Hanna, Jacob, Weston and Hudson Bingham; and his sister, Leila (Jerry) Carlson of Des Moines.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents.
