Johnston, Brett Allen

Brett Allen Johnston, 40, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.

Brett was born Sept. 2, 1971, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Rosemary (Reilly) Johnston. Brett served in the United States Navy for two years. He was married to Stephanie Rodgers Johnston for many years until they later divorced. Most recently he was employed at the Butterfly Cafe.

He enjoyed bowling and spending time with his friends and family.

Brett is survived by his mother, Rosemary of Cedar Rapids; father, Robert (Cheryl) Johnston of Olin; daughter, Sophia Johnston of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Kelly (Nick) O'Neill of Porthcawl, Wales; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents, and other family members.
