Johnson, Warren A.
IOWA CITY - Warren A. Johnson, 85, of Iowa City, passed away Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Windmill Manor in Coralville. Graveside services, with military honors by Marion American Legion Post 298, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, in the Memorial Lawn section of Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Bruce Fischer will officiate. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving to honor his memory are his wife of over 65 years, Vea; four daughters, Sandra (Robert) Tatge, Lyn (Walter) Manley, Susan (Rick) Posner and Julia (Ron) Holch; a daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson Lundquist; and six grandchildren, Alexandra and Andrew Tatge, Colin, Graeme, and Lauren Smith, and Calvin Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son Scott.
Warren was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Arthur and Esther (Shanklin) Johnson. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married E. Vea England on July 21, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1948. with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He was a railroad steam engine enthusiast and a Civil War and World War II history buff.
